DALLAS, Texas, September 10, 2007 – Mr. Joey Carter and AtHome America® have announced
that Mr. Carter has acquired controlling interest in the company from long-time investor Jefferson
Capital Partners. Under the terms of the transaction, Joey Carter will be named president and chief
executive officer and AtHome America co-founders Ms. Becky Wright and Ms. Lisa Brandau will
remain significant stockholders in the business. They will also continue to serve on the company’s
executive team as Executive Vice Presidents and members of the board of directors. Company
headquarters will remain near Chicago, Illinois.
AtHome America is a fast growing, multi-million dollar direct selling company based in Alsip,
Illinois. AtHome America specializes in the distribution of home decorative accessories and gifts
sold directly to customers via their independent sales people, known as HomeStyle Specialists, at

Mr. Carter is the president of Direct Selling Capital, Inc. and has more than 20 years of experience
in the direct selling industry. Prior to forming Direct Selling Capital, Inc., he was chairman and CEO
of Home Interiors & Gifts, where he led the company to sales in excess of $600 million with
100,000 consultants in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Mr. Carter has also served as the
chairman of the Direct Selling Association and as a director of the Direct Selling Education
Foundation.

The co-founders of AtHome America and Mr. Carter also share a multi-generational family tradition
of building faith- and family-based direct sales companies. Ms. Wright and Ms. Brandau founded
AtHome America from the experiences they had growing up in a home where their mother, Alma
Krick, was a successful Queens Way to Fashion consultant in the 1970’s. Three generations of Mr.
Carter’s family worked to build Home Interiors after its founding by his grandmother, Mary Crowley
in 1957.
